What’s in the glass tonight August 25th – Chardonnay

Kim Crawford Grace Chardonnay SP 2015

Kim Crawford Small Parcels Wild Grace Chardonnay Hawkes Bay 2015 – $$

L brought this bottle home. It was fantastic.

Pale clear brilliant gold. 13.5% alc. Single vineyard fruit, wild fermented.

The nose was slightly reductive, and reminiscent to me of Chambertin or Meursault. Stonefruits, melons sitting on lees characters, with subtle oaking. Real elegance and precision.

The white Burgundy characters I saw extended to the palate – minerality, finesse, concentration. Mealy, buttery and nutty. A big and textural Chardonnay, with power, and a great lemon citrus acid backbone.

The longer it sat in the glass the better it looked, the more perfumed it was. Absolutely a cracker!
