What’s in the glass tonight at Noble Rot

Escarpment Chardonnay 2012

Escarpment Chardonnay Martinborough 2012

L & I met M and G at Wellington’s newest, and sadly, only wine bar Noble Rot for a few drinks to round out the working week. It was a lovely lively place, and well-frequented by us middle-aged, middle-class types. It is the start of Wellington On A Plate and the gregarious winemaker from Craggy Range Matt Stafford was in the house. I first met him at an instore CR tasting a while back and it was nice talking to him again.

We shared a couple of tasty tapas plates. I started off with a glass of 2013 Ata Rangi Celebre then moved on to a delicious glass of 2012 Escarpment Chardonnay. It was beautifully aromatic, with dense concentrated fruit, and a hint of mushrooms. Yumza!

We left early to head up to the hockey stadium to watch my stepson play in the Secondary School 2nd XI Final. His team prevailed 4-1!
